True values have adverse selection effects. Say one person sells a share to another; both believe they’re getting the better deal (else the sale wouldn’t take place).
Values are the same. If the party a value is being proposed to can’t reasonably refute it with an opposing or orthogonal stance, then a value isn’t being proposed at all.
It’s similar to Bohr’s notion that the opposite of a deep truth is another deep truth. Or that indifference is the sin of art. Or how transformations across axes function in mathematics.
One way to find these true values is via careful analysis. But there’s a quicker and more accurate method; identify via the courage required to act on or speak of them.
