Truly effective Apollonian, embodied desire-inhibiting technology (e.g. GLP-1 drugs) is ascendant at the same time as Dionysian, disembodied curiosity-amplifying technology (e.g. AI). This is probably going to be an important dynamic to attend to.

I’m not a dualist at all, but we are positioned to really restrain the desires of the body whilst enlivening those of the mind. The coupling works in reverse, though, too. Technologies like AI impose arbitrary order, whilst drugs like GLP-1 unshackle our selves from identities rooted in previously, seemingly immutable bodily desires.

The difference is that technologies like AI are accelerators, whereas technologies like GLP-1s are brakes. Every person will thus have an arc defined by their particular disposition to and usage of acceleration and braking tech.
